The Lilac Bus by Maeve Binchy
The Lilac Bus by Maeve Binchy
I am still hell-bent on working my way through the 26 Book Challenge but, every now and again, I find myself taking a little hiatus. In my defense though, this book does fall under one of the categories: A Book with a Colour in the Title. I’ve read this book before – this would make a great Summer read if you’re looking for something light for the beach?⛱? Maeve Binchy has a knack of creating very real characters and totally immersing you into their world…the only criticism I have is that none of the stories within the story get resolved (but that’s a personal preference and probably not one you’ll be too worried about when you’re sitting on the beach sipping cocktails?)
The Lilac Bus is a series of short stories of the lives of the characters who all take the same weekly trip from Dublin to their hometown of Rathdoon in rural Ireland. They all share one thing: they each have a secret to keep. The stories interconnect as each character features, however briefly, in the stories of each other, building a rich tapestry of life in the town of Rathdoon.
Not one of Maeve’s strongest books but endearing nonetheless.
I give this book THREE COFFEE CUPS ☕☕☕
