Split at the Root by Catana Tully

Split at the Root by Catana Tully

This is a very heartbreaking story…more so because it’s an autobiography of a child removed from the arms of her mother to be raised by a German family in a white household, far removed from her own culture, her own heritage and her own language.

It is true, Catana grew up seemingly wanting for nothing.  She was well looked after and well educated.  She was afforded many opportunities that may not have been available to her had she not been raised by her German family, however, one cannot help but wonder if some things in life are just not more precious.  Catana herself never really seems to answer the question either…

This book is fiercely honest but also very guarded.  It doesn’t seem to matter who raised you, one thing is for sure, family ties run deep whether those ties are through blood or not.  My heart truly goes out to Catana’s biological mother!
