My Monthly Reads – August 2017
My Monthly Reads – August 2017
I know it doesn’t look like it but I had a great reading month in August. I am not a huge fan of brand new books, favouring the pre-love feel and look of a second-hand book, but, for some reason, I’m always drawn to the bookshops in airport duty free. What’s that about? Whilst waiting for our return flight I casually sauntered over to WH Smith under the suspicious glances of my family. “I’m only going to look”, I’d said in a voice that didn’t even convince the youngest member of the family who rolled her eyes at my earnest plea.
Within 10 minutes I was holding an armful of new books that I JUST HAD TO HAVE. Talk about bees to honey but they always have the ‘BUY ONE GET THE SECOND ONE HALF PRICE‘ deal going and it would be totally wrong to pass up an opportunity like that.
Anyhoo…there was a brief spell of sense that crept in – apart from the fact that there was no way I was going to manage a plane trip with all this additional luggage – looking at the faces of my family, I knew I wasn’t going to be getting any support from that department. I put all the lovelies back bar two…and, because I couldn’t wait to get stuck in, I’m now reading three books all at once.
My August reads with the awarded COFFEE CUPS is as follows:
- ☕☕ Mother’s Milk by Edward St Aubyn
Hopefully, this explains why I only got through one book in August. The good news is that I should be able to provide reviews on 3 or more books during September’s round-up.
P.S The ‘airport books’ are real crackers. If you are curious about which books I am currently reading, find me on Goodreads – I’d also love to hear your recommendations.
HAPPY READING!!! ??
