Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith
Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith
I cannot praise or recommend this book enough! I was glued to the pages of this book from start to finish.
The seemingly random events at the start of the book pull you in so fast and then it’s just a roller-coaster ride to the end. What I really loved about this book was that the author lets you in on all aspects of the book…Leo, the main character, takes you on the main journey but you are afforded the occasional detour to visit with the killer and a number of his victims too…oh, and it’s set in Russia. Did I mention that I LOVE Russia!!?!
Leo Demidov is an idealist who believes in Stalin’s Soviet Union and becomes a cog in the system to protect this as a member of the State’s Security force, rooting out the traitors, detractors and Western propaganda.
How do you investigate the horrific murders of young children in a country where ‘crime doesn’t exist’ and any statements to the contrary are considered ‘anti-establishment’! As a result, Leo finds himself demoted and exiled and running from the very system he upheld. His only ally? His estranged wife, Raisa.
This book gets a very rare FIVE COFFEE CUPS ☕☕☕☕☕
